Internet Of Things And The Internet Of Everything: The Difference Between T And E

While the concept of the Internet of Things and Internet of Everything may be bright for IT professionals, it may not be so for a layman like you. Contrary to what you may think these two concepts are not precisely similar and have many differences between them. Read on to find out where the distinction lies.

Internet Of Things And The Internet Of Everything: The Difference Between T And E

Breaking Down The Concepts Of IoT And IoE

It is imperative to know the difference between these two before diving into the world of IoT and IoE. The main difference between IoT and IoE is that IoE is a broader concept than IoT. To simplify it, even more, consider the ‘Things' part in the IoT. Things always refer to some tangible object which has a physical existence and which you can touch and feel like a computer, a laptop, a smart refrigerator, etc. and all of these are connected to the internet as well. Not only that but they are continuously exchanging data and information over the internet. So it is IoT when Nest thermostat automatically changes the room temperature when its sensors detect a lower or a higher temperature.

But is the internet only made of devices that have a physical form and can be connected to the internet? No, it is comprised of many more things which are not tangible, has no physical form and only exists in the virtual world hosted by some server. Browsers like Google, Bing, Apple Safari, online platforms like Pinterest, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook are all a part of the internet. Not only that internet also comprises of the millions of people connected to it all over the world and interacting on a daily basis and data streams. All of these together form the concept of the Internet of Everything. It is ‘Everything' and not just devices connecting and building a network.

DataMites is providing IoT training course in Bangalore and Hyderabad. If you wants to be Certify and become IoT expert sing-up with DataMites.

IoE And Data Streams

When everything is connected, there is a large number of data being shared between devices, and all these data are in different formats for different devices. The problem arises when this massive amount of data has to be continuously translated for various devices. This takes a lot of time and effort on the part of the developers.

Recently DataMites launches IoT training in Pune also. Now Contact Datamites for IoT classroom Training.

IoT And API

IoT has its own set of problems. IoT uses different APIs to connect to other devices; standard APIs are not allowed to connect to devices of significant players in the industry like Nest or Netatmo. For these giants, developers will have to use separate API. This has brewed the standards war which is not slowing down anytime soon.

IoT And IoE And Their Impact On Future

IoT and IoE are the present and the future, but there are problems to both of these technologies which may have a negative impact on the future. This standards war, constant translation of data to different formats is seen negatively for the future of the internet. Developers are finding it hard to work together and coordinate the devices. At CloudRail we realized this and came up with our OneAPI. We also offer a helping hand to those developers who are finding it hard to make their API work a specific way using a different programming language.
